Cercis canadensis var. texensis is a versatile tree that thrives in well-drained, limestone-based soils and adapts well to rocky, sandy, and clay types. Preferring low to medium water use, it flourishes in both full sun and part shade. Texas Redbud offers clusters of pink-purple flowers in early spring, followed by glossy, heart-shaped leaves that turn gold or red in fall. It's drought-tolerant and a favorite for pollinators, providing nectar and serving as a larval host for Henry’s Elfin butterfly.
