Chasmanthium latifolium (Inland Sea Oats) is a clump-forming perennial grass that thrives in moist, shaded environments. Reaching heights of 2-4 feet, it is characterized by its graceful, drooping, oat-like seedheads and blue-green, bamboo-like leaves. In fall, the foliage turns a bright yellow-gold, adding seasonal interest. This low-maintenance shade grass is excellent for erosion control and is popular in flower arrangements due to its attractive seed stalks. Though it prefers shade, it can tolerate some sun with adequate water.
