Wild Bergamot, Monarda fistulosa, is a showy perennial with lavender or pink flowers resembling pom-poms. A member of the mint family, this plant has aromatic leaves used to make teas and medicinal oils; this also gives it a high resistance to deer and pests. Growing about 5 feet tall, the flowers are popular with bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. This Texas native makes a great addition to any pollinator garden or edible herb garden.
